GMA International, the business unit that handles GMA Network’s international channels, in partnership with the Filipino Canadian Marketing Group (FCMG), Inc., commemorates decades of great Filipino music in the third staging of Vancouver’s Original Pinoy Music Festival.
The sounds of original Filipino music will be heard on July 19 at the Plaza of Nations, 750 Pacific Boulevard, Vancouver, from 12:00 NN to 6:00 PM. Leading the celebration is multi-awarded Kapuso Soul Diva Jaya, currently a main host of GMA’s variety program, Sunday All-Stars. Fans of the singer-actress will also have a chance to meet and greet their idol at the GMA booth.
The festival, a one-of-a-kind celebration of Filipino culture, values, and traditions through music, will feature live band and solo acts by local Filipino performers. The crowd can also look forward to a new segment called “OPM Festival Composer of the Year” as well as booths promoting Filipino products and services.
Since the festival’s launch in 2012, GMA International has remained a constant presence, actively supporting its goal of enriching the local Filipino music scene and instilling “Pinoy Pride” through original Filipino music.
In its first year, Pinoy King of Soul Janno Gibbs and Vancouver’s Sweetheart Joey Albert graced the event while Kapuso hunk Aljur Abrenica and Kapuso leading lady Kris Bernal excited their Filipino-Canadians fans at the festival the following year.

The Original Pinoy Music (OPM) Vancouver Festival is a one of a kind celebration of Filipino Music. It is a FREE ADMISSION event for all Filipino Canadians in Greater Vancouver to commemorate great Filipino composers and artists in the past few decades. It is a celebration of our culture, values and traditions thru music.
The festival also celebrates “Pinoy Pride” with our boundless talents in singing and dancing with original Filipino music. More importantly, it is a festivity to bring Filipinos closer together and bring back good old memories from the Philippines, their homeland, thru the music they know, reminisce with and love.
The OPM Festival was established in 2012 in commemoration of the 7th Year Anniversary Celebration of Filipino Canadian Marketing Group, Inc. (FCMGI), the company responsible for the conceptualization and production of the event. It is FCMGI’s way of giving back to the community for all the support it has received all throughout its humble years of operation.
In the 1st Year of the OPM Festival, Philippine International Artists Janno Gibbs of GMA Network Inc., and Ms. Joey Albert, together with local Vancouver Filipino talents, performed at the event with over 3,500 attendees.
On its 2nd Year, Philippine International Artists tagged as the “Royalty Love Team” of GMA Network Inc., Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal took headlines sharing the stage with Filipino talents not only from Vancouver but also from the cities of Winnipeg and Edmonton. Ms. Joey Albert also graced the event with over 4,500 spectators.
And this 3rd year of our music festivity, we definitely expect no less!
